A World That Forgot It’s Mother
When was the last time you felt held…
deeply…
The way mothers hold their newborns? The way the shallow banks of the rivers sink the bare souls of your feet, making you feel connected to something so nurturing it would never hurt you?
When was the last time you felt sacred? In all that you are—all flaws and imperfections, all shadows and light?
When was the last time you felt seen, the way mothers see, deep into your limitless soul, whispering, you are safe here.
For too long, we have forgotten what she feels like; what it feels like to be held by her.
For too long, they have kept her from us.
We are a world whose mother was stripped away long, long ago; removed from the story, cut out of the photograph, banished like a wild one driven out of its land.
“Oh mighty Father,” they cry.
“Forgive us our trespasses.”
Adhering to a notion that from the very moment our soul sings to this world, we are here without permission.
These are not the mother’s words. This is not the mother’s way.
To the mother, we are sacred in all our forms. To the mother, we are loved without condition.
When we remember the mother, we remember our connection to the all.
When we remember the mother, we remember that our very being here is enough; that the skin we live in is made of the stardust that contains the songs of our ancestors. We remember that we have a place in her arms…all os us—all colours, all sizes, all beliefs, all forms.
We sit around her campfire, beneath her sky, sharing stories, singing songs, dancing to the drumming sounds of our feet as they beat upon the Earth.
With her, we are free.
